Shutting down a group of healers/mages
My guess that mesmer would be best at this with some other combo problem is ie zc obsidian spike elementalist cure hexes as fast as i cast them and heal each other need to find a way to stop this.
Best spell setup annd group setup of 4.

....What? That was pretty unclear. After reading it, I can guess that your questions are
- Is the Mesmer best at shutting down casters?
- How do I shut down an elementalist with Obsidian Flesh?
- How do I shut somebody down when they remove my hexes?
The first answer is usually yes. Mesmers have an awesome Domination line that can be used to render enemies useless and remove their protection while dishing damage. Of course, there are always rare occasions when a Ranger would do a better job with bow inturrupts, but when it comes to getting Casters I believe a Mesmer is the best weapon.
The second answer, is that you pretty much can't without bringing some pretty strange stuff. A Mesmer alone doesn't have the skills to remove Obsidian Flesh, but there are skills that remove enchantments in the Dervish line, like Avatar Of Grenth. Skills like that can smash the Obsidian Flesh.
- If somebody is removing your hexes, then you pretty much have 2 main choices that I can think of off the top of my head. You can
- Add a cover hex, like Parasitic Bond so they don't remove the important hexes
- Inturrupt their hex removal spell
If I am a Mesmer trying to shut down a monk, I would probably use the second option, because Mesmers don't have the space for cover hexes in their bar. There are too many things that would be better. Also, the main Mesmer hex is Diversion, and that usually should'nt be spammed.
Hope that helped

One thing - Mesmer HAS anti-Obsi Flesh skills. Air of Disenchantment casts at .25, so with good reflexes you may remove that skill as soon as AoD is removed/ends, so pretty soon. And there are signets - Signet of Disenchantment works nicely against O. Flesh ;p Don't forget about Hex Eater Vortex, too.
And you can use Cry of Pain/Frustration or even Technobabble (Asuran skill - 15 ene, 1 second cast - mass dazed for few seconds on non-boss monsters). But Mesmer should focus on disabling in 95% one caster instead of few casters in 30%.

Its Obsidian flame not flesh, it just the healing part thats hard to stop they chain heal each other if only i could stop then from healing so well.
I see that Obsidian flame is almost impossible to resist not physical or elemental damage.
The only other problem is that heroes attack same target as you do if only there was a way from them to select a target thats not targeted.
I never thought of this but maybe a deny mana build that would shut down group of casters no mana no casting?.

In my opinion e-denial, disabling are the best shutdown.
I really don't like hexes for shutdown unless your team is hex heavy.
Try using skills like Powerblock, Powerlock, Signet of Humility and Signet of Distraction, ect if you want to take out a particular spell or elite skill.
Edit: Ohhh, Obsidian Flame, not Flesh.

Use [skill]Power Block[/skill] on one, they're screwed for 15 seconds.
Stick [skill]Mistrust[/skill][skill]Guilt[/skill][skill]Shame[/skill][skill]Signet of Humility[/skill] or stuff like that onto one, depending on what it is.
Go onto the next one and [skill]Power Lock[/skill][skill]Signet of Distraction[/skill] its most important skills.
Go onto another and babysit it with [skill]Power Return[/skill].
To stop heroes from attacking your target, DON'T ATTACK YOUR TARGET. Casting on a target (and not calling it) will not cause heroes to attack it.
